Postcard #73 - NETHERLANDS



A postcard from the Netherlands was in my mailbox today. It's a beautiful photo of a windmill in a field of tulips. There are 3 stamps on the back, 1 of statues in a museum, 1 of a painting of the sky and another of trucks. The person who sent it to me noted that the stamps are in Dutch Guilders even though Holland has used the Euro since 2002. The card got here in only 5 days and traveled 4,062 km.

Postcard #72 - BELGIUM



I got a postcard from Belgium today. It's a beautiful photo of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Brussels. I love all the red roofed buildings surrounding it. There are 3 stamps on the back - a Pintail Duck, a Black Woodpecker and pink tulips. The postcard got here in 8 days and traveled 4,062 km.

The postcard I sent to China was registered today after 18 days and 12,048 km. 18 days is really quick, I wonder is it because this is the first time I have included the address written in Chinese characters as well? In the past I only printed out the English version.

Postcard #71 - BELARUS



I got a postcard from Belarus today. I knew as soon as I took it out of the mailbox it was from Belarus because every postcard I have gotten from that country is long (legal sized). The picture is of the bus terminal and there is 1 stamps on the back of Andrei Aramnau, a gold medal winner at the summer games in Beijing in weightlifting. The card took 16 days to get here and traveled 5,397 km.

Postcard #70 - NETHERLANDS



I got a postcard from the Netherlands today, a pretty scene of a windmill and fields. There are 3 stamps on the back - 2 are drawings, 1 of a child wearing a newspaper hat, 1 of a dinosaur, and another commemorates Japan's surrender in WWII. The postcard took 6 days to get here and traveled 4,127 km.

Postcard #69 - GERMANY



I also got a postcard from Germany today. It's of the Keukenhof Gardens, the Netherlands. There is 1 stamp on the back of a church in Regensburg, a UNESCO world heritage site. The card took 6 days to get here and traveled 4,595 km. I find mail from Canada to Germany quicker than mail from Canada to the USA.

Postcard #68 - RUSSIA



I got a postcard from Russia today. It's a painting called "On a Fairy Blue Cat" by Daria Gerasimova. It's a very pretty painting and looks to me like traditional Russian artwork. There are 2 stamps on the back, 1 of Yuri Gagarin and 1 of artist Dmitry Levitzky. The postcard took 22 days to get here and traveled 5,859 km.

Postcard #79 is going to a girl in China. She likes map postcards so I am sending this map of Newfoundland. Map postcards aren't common around here. Postage to China costs $1.75.

I'm sending this postcard of the Bonavista lighthouse to a 17 year old girl in Germany who likes tourist postcards. Postage to Germany costs $1.75.

I also got a postcard from Taiwan today. It is a beautiful photo of Liyu Lake. The back of the postcard has a map showing where in Taiwan the lake is located. There is one stamp on the back of a flower. The card took 20 days to get here and traveled 11,942 km.

Postcard #66 - FINLAND



I got a postcard from Finland today, a very nice one that shows lighthouses of Finland. There is one stamp on the back of artwork by the artist Mauno Hartman. The card took 10 days to get here and traveled 4,761 km.
