I am sending a postcard to a man in the Czech Republic. He had a big list of postcards he likes but he specifically requested a postcard of William and Kate's wedding from the UK. I hope he doesn't mind one from Canada. Postage to the Czech Republic is $1.80, but this is a pre-paid postcard from Canada Post.
I am sending a postcard to a woman in Japan. She said she likes all kinds of cards so I am sending this one of the Royal Wedding. Postage to Japan is $1.80 but this is a pre-paid postcard from Canada Post.
I got a card from England today. It's a gorgeous picture of Big Ben in London and reminds me of my vacation to London in 2008. There are 3 stamps on the back - 2 of the Queen and 1 of Jodrell Bank Observatory. The card took 8 days to get here and traveled 3,648 km.
I got a postcard from Finland today. It shows view of the city Tampere in winter. There is 1 stamp on the back of hockey players. It seems to have missed the cancellation machine too. The card took 15 days to get here and traveled 4,949 km.
The last card I got today is from the Netherlands. It's a folded postcard, different from any postcard I've gotten yet. There is a picture of 3 monkeys (or 1 monkey in 3 poses) on the front. The typical "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" pose. The card opens up (it's a tri-fold) to show the same picture but much bigger. There is 1 international stamp on the back. The card took 7 days to get here and traveled 4,158 km.
I also got a postcard from Poland. The photo shows 2 dolls, the text on the back reads "Polish Folk Dolls Bridal Pair from the Cracow Region". There are 2 stamps on the back, 1 showing an estate house and a Christmas stamp. The card took 52 days to get here and traveled 5,044 km.
I got my first postcard from Australia today! I've been waiting a long time to get one from there. The card is a cute photo of koalas and the text on the back talks about saving the koala and is from the "Australian Koala Foundation". There is one stamp ($1.60) of a snowboarder on the back. The card took 16 days to get here and traveled 16,849 km.
I got 4 postcards today! The first is from the Netherlands. A lovely photo of a boat in a canal near some windmills. The stamp on the back is the official Postcrossing stamp. The card took 17 days to get here and traveled 4,070 km.
I am sending my first card to Italy today! I've never received one from there either. It's always nice to get a different country. The guy I am sending to likes city or landscape cards so I picked this postcard of St. John's. Postage to Italy is $1.80.
